Forever 21+: En Plein Air

For optimal viewing gratification, please enjoy this video while perusing my post.

This month the theme for the Ahead of the Curve collective is Nature's Palette. The Spring 2015 cooler and softer color choices with subtle warm tones follow a minimalistic en plein air theme, taking a cue from nature. I must admit I'm in love with this color palette. Never in my 40 years of living on this planet have I considered wearing any of these colors. A few weeks ago on a whim  I colored my hair Lucite Green and suddenly it all made sense! All of these beautiful, soft, cool tones looked so fantastic on my skin. I'm getting to fall in love with makeup and clothing all over again. While this color bliss is wonderful, it makes me not want to wear my go to colors in my closet either. My staple bright reds, dark purples and charcoals have none of the light dreaminess of the en plein air theme. This means it's time for some purging and shopping. This past weekend I was out poking around Forever21 and I came across this dress. This was the first piece of clothing I saw when I got to the store; my eyes were instantly drawn to it. The soft floral print in Strawberry Ice and Lucite Green looked so lovely next to the Off White, lace trim. This nightgown style dress gave me a big 90's, Courtney Love, heroin-chic vibe, and I was living!  In addition to loving the way this dress looks, I also love the way it fits. I bought the dress in a size 3X and there is plenty of room in it despite not having any stretch. Thank you Forever21 for cutting this dress a little bit bigger than usual. Dresses at Forever21 can be hit or miss for me at a size 26. This dress is not tight through my chest, and is very light and flowy though my hips. I'm 5'6" tall and it hits me just slightly above my knees. Unfortunately, I can not link you to this dress because it is not listed online. I have a feeling it is too new and you will see it in the upcoming weeks. You may have more luck going into your local store and buying it directly.

UPDATE: I'm told this dress was in fact online in the US, but sold out very fast. In Canada we only get a small percentage of what the American site gets so I'm doubtful it will ever be online in Canada.
