Candy Strike: Plus Size Hairspray Roach Dress

For optimal viewing gratification please click and enjoy this wicked  themed video while perusing my post.

"That girl's got roaches in her hair!"

Recently I blogged about Candy Strike Teenage Jezebel; you can find the details about the collection here.

The second item I purchased from Teenage Jezebel was the Tracy Roach Dress. I totally love designer Elizabeth Denneau's interpretation of Turnblads gown. This dress is made of stretch scuba knit and is a tea length. It's such a comfortable dress to wear, the fabric is a dream. The best part about the dress is the adorable heart headed screen printed roaches adorning the bottom. This dress is available from size 2-28; it can be custom sized by dropping Candy Strike a quick email. For some added flair I chose to add a petticoat under my dress . The dress could easily be worn without one. The petticoat I picked up at Sweet Echo Plus.  You can find  more details about Sweet Echos petticoats here.  I completed my hair hop, bugged out look by adding  Shoes and Socks from ModCloth and a Teenage Jezebel necklace that I crafted.

Take another peep at my photos and you will find this amazing  Hairspary Double Sided Clutch  with Denneau's Divine as Edna art. This rad bag is available in a limited quantity so grab one up quick. The second side of the clutch features Tracy Big Blonde and Beautiful. This large water resistant bag it perfect for a tablet or make-up.

I love feedback please leave a comment below and let me know what you thought of this post.

Keep Calm And Bikini At Any Size

*ATTENTION ALL BIKINI BABES*

I'm a woman on a mission!! I'm aiming to create a wonderful, inspiring, and enlightening post for my blog; a post full of women from all walks of life, of all shapes and sizes, wearing bikinis. I believe all bodies are beautiful and you should never be ashamed, or feel you should hide your imperfections, for any reason. As the greatest sex goddess of our time, Marilyn Monroe said: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

Help me show me show the world you can wear a bikini at any size. I am hoping to collect photos of 101 women in bikinis/fatkinis and would love if you could include a quote about how wearing the suit makes you feel. If I end up with less than 101, so be it, any number of beautiful inspiring women is fine by me! If you would like to be involved please send a good quality photo (sorry ladies no blurry phone pics) and your quote to.. Everydayislikehalloween@hotmail.com.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday July 30th, 2014.

Not sure, or have questions? Please Facebook message me, I would be happy to answer any questions you have and leave a comment below.

*Please SHARE this post with other body positive babes you think would be interested in participating. Help me get word out.

Alternative Plus Size Thrifting

For optimal viewing gratification please click and enjoy this video while perusing my post.

Our theme this month for Ahead of the Curve is Plus Size Thrifting.
This look was a total steal! From head to toe the whole outfit cost me $26.
The most expensive item in my look was my skirt, I picked it up recently at ASOS with a coupon and got it for $15. I picked up the shirt at Vaule Village for $4; Vaule Village is a  chain similar to Savers.
When I got the shirt it was not a crop top, I decided to chop it in half to make my own crop top. Ya sure as heck can't beat a $4 crop top! I picked up the gloves on eBay for $2, and the hat as well for $5.
The boots came second hand from a friend and the necklace I crafted myself.
I gave myself a $25 budget for this look and I think I did pretty fantastic only going over by $1. I would like to point out that three of the items were shipped and I still keep the look under $30!!!

Proving you don't need to spend a mint to dress fashion forward and look sass-a-licious!!

My look for this months blog really took me out of my comfort zone. I've always been afraid to show my belly, let alone any of my midriff, but there is no hiding in a crop top. Wearing one shows my stretchmarks and I'm cool with that; having four children I've earned every one of them. I had my daughter, who is my photographer, take a photo of me from behind as well; I prepared myself to be horrified but I found  my back was interesting and pretty with rolls.
Who knew:)

A True Blue Garden Party

For optimal viewing gratification please click and enjoy this video while perusing my post.

Our theme this month for Ahead of the Curve is Garden Party. I can't say I've ever been to a fancy garden party; I can only imagine a true garden party would be totally classy, with fruity cocktails and ladies in pastel frocks with large hats. Oh, and mini sandwiches of exotic types, lots of mini sandwiches. In Canada, people tend to throw a different type of garden party. There is usually no garden. It's mostly about the fire, burgers, and beer. Today I dressed for the party I want, not the party I've got.

My outfit is mostly a mish-mash of items I've had sitting in my closet, Unfortunately, some of these items are currently unavailable. I am sorry about that, but I still wanted to go with this look; hopefully my outfit will still inspire. The dress I picked up at eShakti last fall; they carry many dresses in this color so you should still be able to find something you love. I had this dress made custom to my measurements (53/50/64). You can get any dress from their site custom fitted for an extra $7. I think they did a pretty bang on job though I wish the sleeves were a little shorter and tighter but, for the most part I'm very happy with the fit. The one thing I do dislike about this dress is the fact it wrinkles so easy. The dress was steamed ten minutes before these photos were taken and you can see in many of them it's already wrinkly. Wrinkles are my arch enemy. My shoes and socks are both from ModCloth. The shoes are sold out, but don't lose hope, ModCloth quite often brings back their popular items. You also can make a request to be notified if they do become available in stock. The dancing on flair socks are currently in stock and I think they are totally adorable. Who doesn't want to wear the same socks they wore the first day of kindergarten? HA! Alright so maybe not everyone, but I'll never grow up.

While I'm sure my red hair would have looked fine with this look, I kind of wanted to sport shorter hair, so I pulled out a black wig my husband wore for Halloween. I thought it looked pretty cute for my fictitious party. Blue Moon lips from  Pretty Zombie Cosmetics and my paper doll Divine pin finished off my look. I really love the liquid lip product from PZC but, I'm on the fence still about the blue color. My husband came home and told me he liked them, but they will take some getting used to. How do you feel about all the new quirky lip colors coming into trend?

So I'm all dolled up with no real garden party in sight. I think I may need to bring back the art of the garden party around here. Who want's a cocktail?
