Hell Bunny Sugar Skull Cat Cardigan

Hell Bunny's Autumn/Winter collection 2013-14 is just arriving in stores and it's AMAZING! Normally I would post a whole whack of per-view photos for your drooling pleasure. Not this time! I bought so many pieces this year and I'm excited to blog about everyone. As some of you know I'm a totally spooky Halloween ghoul and Hell Bunny never disappoints in offering fantastic spooky seasonal print dresses. To my delight this year they have carried these prints over into plus size cardigans! Fangtastic!

I`m wearing the Sugar Skull Cat Cardigan. This sweater design features so many awesome things. White stitched spider webs on each shoulder and sugar skull cats wearing adorable blue bows. Red roses have been embroidered beneath each skull and on each sleeve there's an additional rose. Such a cute touch. The sweater is finished off with blue pearlized buttons. This is the first of two cardigan designs offered by Sarah Cake this season. Sarah does fierce work and will offer many more pieces in the Spring/Summer collection. Keep a watch on her she is totally up and coming.

The quality of these sweaters is very nice. Dare I say maybe the nicest I have found in a cardigan. Old Navy is a go-to place for reasonably priced cardigans. I always have a problem with their sweaters stretching out and losing shape. I don't see this happening at all with these sweaters. I also have invested a lot of money into cardigans from Torrid. I have never ever had a Torrid cardigan not pile after two or three wears. If I'm going to spend good money on a cardigan I want it look good for at least a full season.

I'm wearing a size 4X and there is still a lot of stretch. You may want to take note of the bust. I have a 52" bust and the sweater is just starting to pull being done all the way up. I know many people never even wear their sweaters closed so if you're just looking for it to fit your arms and shoulders know there is a lot of room and stretch. Please take note that these sweaters are hand wash and air dry.

If you are interested in picking up one of these spooktacular Hell Bunny cardigans you can grab one at Rockelle or Sweet Echo. Sweet Echo is getting ready to launch their internet store so keep a watch for that. It will make ordering all your Hell Bunny items quicker and easier. These sweaters retail for $54 on both sites.

Denim With Edge

Denim and I have never had a really close relationship. I'm not the type of girl to throw on a pair of jeans and roll with it. I don't know that I have ever felt 100% comfortable in denim anything. I would have to say denim is my least favorite fabric so I knew this month's Ahead of the Curve blog post was going to be a tricky one. That's cool ... It's nice to step away from my comfort zone and try something new.

I knew if I was going to do denim it would have to be black. I'm totally not a blue denim girl. I know currently light denim and ombre denim are hot hot hot, but I really just can't. Denim with a punk or metal edge really is a lot less scary for me. The denim item I purchased for this post was a black jean jacket in size 4 from Torrid. I actually mulled over this jacket for weeks. I couldn't commit to it right away, because I was wishing it was a little more rough around the edges. Since I ordered this jacket Torrid has come out with a destructed black denim jacket and I'm kind of bummed I didn't get it instead. I will just have to wear in the one I got. This jacket fits well and isn't too long in the arms. Long arms are an issue I always have. There's a running joke in my family that I have T-rex arms! Boo!  While this jacket fits, I was just not in love with it. UNTIL.....

I MADE IT MINE!!! I've added a huge Evil Dead patch to the back with safety pins and donned the front with plenty of buttons. I picked the back patch up on ebay a couple years ago and it has come in handy more than once. I couldn't help singing bad reputation by Joan Jett while doing this up.The jacket still needs work and I'm sure it will transform a few more times in the up coming months.
It's still too neat and black for me. I prefer a faded lived in look to denim, but for now I'm totally pleased. Denim and I will slowly get to know each other.

Additional items I'm wearing....

Cross Sweater in size 3X from Forever 21+
Stripped Skirt in size 22 from ASOS
Scarlet Red Tights in size E from We Love Colors
Black Studded Boots in size 9 from Torrid

We are a collective of plus size bloggers coming together to post on the same subject. This month we each have a post on “Denim” so click away and check them out.

Hell Bunny Plus Size Millie Coat

It's totally no secret I'm a huge Hell Bunny fan. I became a fan of this brand a few years ago, back when they didn't offer options in my size. I would still search them often on ebay and dreamt that some day they would carry a collection for plus size girls. A few years ago my dream came true when Hell Bunny started carrying sizes 2X-4X. I have been poor ever since!

Over the last few years I have purchased many Hell Bunny dresses and I have always wanted one of their fantastic coats. They came out with a collection last winter that was so adorable. It did not include plus sizes. I have done  a lot of finger crossing this year and Facebook page posting about how much us curvy girls need cute winter coats. Someone over in bunny land heard my prayers because this winter they have an amazing collection of plus coats. Good job Hell Bunny for stepping up and producing lots of items for your plus size fans.

Hell Bunny's Millie Coat in Grey and Red.

When I saw Hell Bunny post the collection of winter coats on their Facebook page a few weeks ago I knew I had to have one. I quickly messaged my girl Michelle over at Sweet Echo to see if she would be carrying them. Of course she was! She has impeccable taste and I can always count on her to have an amazing stock of HB. For anyone who is into this brand totally join her Facebook shop. She is always adding new items, but they get snagged up fast. I admit to checking her page daily. I might be a little obsessed.

I have to admit I was a little worried if this jacket would fit me. I'm a solid size 26/28 bottom and according to the size chart I'm too big for this jacket.  I wanted the coat so bad it was worth a risk. I ordered a size 4X and according to the size chart it fits a 48" bust and a 43 1/4" waist. I'm 4" larger in the bust and 6" larger in the waist. While the coat has no stretch it's cut generous in this style. AWESOME!

I think this jacket is the perfect length. I'm 5'6" and it hit me right around the knees. I love the sweet anchor buttons on the front of this coat. 4 of them are functional. The soft Black grosgrain ribbon trim on the hem, collar and cuffs is also a nice touch. The inside of the jacket is lined in black silk. This jacket is not super warm. I don't want anyone to think when they buy this jacket it will be an all winter every day love affair. At least it can't be for me. I live in Canada and things can get pretty bitter in the heart of winter. I will be able to use this coat for travels to and from parties and shopping. I just won't be doing any long hikes in it. I feel so pretty and feminine in this coat.

If anyone is interested in grabbing this coat I would totally get on it. I think it is going to be a crazy popular item and will sell out very fast. Currently, you can order this jacket and other styles of Hell Bunny jackets at Sweet Echo. The price of the Millie coat is $145 + Shipping. Worth every cent in my opinion.
